Interview 1 Refelection

What was the most important thing you learned from your interview and why?

When he was talking to me abuot how skateboarding is a passion, and had become a lifestyle now, rather than just a hobby, it really proved to me that skateboarding had turned into something much bigger than what it used to be, and it's much bigger than just a pass time, as most people see it.

5 Min Presentation Reflection

1. What was most changelling to do and why?

For me, I think the hardst part was not repeating any material just to get to the time limit. To fix that I should have gone over the content the night before and added things if I needed to. Because I didn't want to be just saying extra stuff just to get to the time limit.

2. What is the difference between the literal and the interpretive in your presentation?

The literal part of my presentation was the background information that I gave on skateboarding. While researching, I found that skateboarding was a product of surfing, and that it was called sidewalk surfing in the 50's and 60's. The interpretive part of my presentation was when I was talking about what people think of when they think of skateboarding, and I shared my view on that, that they just think of the main stream pro skaters and just look right over all the people who really make it happen.

3. What will you take from this and apply to future presentations?

Now that I know who really makes skateboarding what it is, I can go into further research about those people and learn about what they do, so that in my future presentations, I will have more and better information to share.

4. What would you say stood out about your presentation preformance?

I think the fact that I had a poter there really hepled me with my preformance. I was able to point to the poster and show what exactly I was talking about. Also it was a good way to keep on track, because all I had to do was just follow what was on the poster.

Interview Check In.

1. Who are you going to interview and why?

I plan on interviewing one of the owners of my local skateshops because, their job revolves around skateboarding, they know what it's like to help costumers that have questions, so they much have have some good answers. Also, they have a skate team, so I'd be able to get info on how that works, the whole sponsored process.

2. You have been assigned 5 questions. What other questions will you ask and why?

I think I would ask him, how he got into the field of skateboarding, and if it's something that he would reccomend to something that is thinking about it, like me. Like I said in the first answer, I would also want to ask him about how to get on this team, like what is the process that I need to go through, things like that.

Topic Choice.

What is your topic?
My topic is skateboarding.

Why did you choose this topic?
I chose this topic because I wanted to do my senior project on something that really interests me, since I would be working with it so much through out the year. Also something that I already know a lot about, yet something that I need to learn more on. Skateboarding worked perfect because all the information I discover this year, won't just go to waste after the project is over, it's something I'm going to stick with.

What do you hope to accomplish after studying this topic all year?
After studying about skateboarding all year, I basically hope to know how to make a living off of skateboarding. Rather it be owning a skate shop, being a filming, photographer, working for a magazine or being a professional skater. I plan on looking into how I can get into all these occupations. And by the end of the year, having a clearer picture on what I want to do.
